From "O Canada!" to silence...

Let's see.....went with my sister to help her find a homecoming dress....she's gorgeous, hehe. Went to see FIF Saturday night with Kuvun.....all I have to say is *wow.* Too bad the first concert of theirs I go to is also the last I'll be able to go to.

While introducing one of the songs, Reese Roper (lead singer) was talking about how the world doesn't get us Christians, and we're rebels in this world. He said, "The world can't handle you! The world can't handle us." Maybe you had to be there. I thought it was rather powerful.

At the end, everyone was screaming for one more song. The other band members vanished, and all but Reese and the bass player had made it back stage. To back up, FIF is crazy, and has a crazy audience. So it goes from this insanity to Reese very quietly saying "Ssh..." A still finally comes over the crowd, and he starts to sing a capella: "Oh Lord...you're beautiful; your face is all I seek; and when your eyes are on this child, your grace abounds to me...Oh Lord, please light the fire that once burned bright in me..." "I love you, Lord, and I lift my voice to worship you; O my soul, rejoice! Take joy, my King, in what you hear; may it be a sweet, sweet sound in your ear..."

There was silence for a long time, and the concert ended. I'd never seen anything like it, and I'm butchering it trying to describe it.

So yeah. FIF is cool. Real cool.

Who God is not.

Heh. I am NOT good at interviews. I STINK at interviews. And I had to do three of them today. Oy.

Blessed be the Lord God Almighty
Who was and is and is to come;
Blessed is the the Lord God Almighty
Who reigns forevermore!

I had to read selections out of the Qur'an last night. Eck. Some things are better off left alone. I read Psalms 91-94 afterwards to rid myself of any potential side effects. I'm even less impressed with allah now than I was before. And yes, I purposely left it lowercase.

Anyway...I got two stories to write tonight: one for my journalism class and one for biology. hehehe....Unfortunately, I've got writer's block. Ah well. This too shall pass.

You alone are Father
And you alone are good.
You alone are Savior,
And you alone are God.

And I'm alive because of you;
I can't live with out you.
And I'm in awe of you;
Cuz nothing can compare with you.

I exalt thee; I exalt thee, O Lord...
My Rock, my Fortress...
Deliver and Dwelling Place.
Thou art my comfort, my shield;
Thou art the lifter of my head.

Quote: on Not nice, but forgiven

Off a devotional page:

"Not Nice, but Forgiven" (Romans 12.9-16)

God intends His truth to change us. See how the Lord’s Word works in you to do that. Read Romans 12:9-16 and think about this: Romans 12:9 tells us to hate what is evil and cling to what is good. Hate is actually a very strong word. It means “to abhor, to have a horror of, to shrink away from.” Just as we are to obey the Lord by learning to love His commands, so, too, we do not merely cease to do those things that are wrong. We hate them. It is entirely possible for us to stop doing certain things but to secretly love them in our hearts and imagination. Their power over us continues despite the fact that outwardly we may not be doing them at all. They lie just beneath the surface, and inevitably they will erupt again in our lives in some way or another.

How do we begin to hate evil like that? There is only one way. It is to begin to love the Lord more. Only the love of the gospel is enough to displace the love we have for evil, and if you are not yet willing to admit that you love that which is bad for you, then I must warn you; you may not know the Lord Jesus Christ yet, because the dawning of the Lord’s grace in our hearts will always spotlight that wickedness to which our flesh clings. But that same gospel will teach us, by the Lord’s graceful faithfulness over time, to hate that very thing in us.

It is only as we go beyond avoiding wrong things that we will see that the Lord wants us to be something more than just nice, moral people. We can hate evil only by loving God and by living in the light of His mercies. Every day the Christian must preach the gospel to himself or herself, because only the gospel is that motivating power. This is not about inspiration like a good book inspires us. It is about the power of the love of God poured out in our hearts that changes the texture of our affections so that we begin to abhor evil and cling to what is good.

Go to the foot of the cross today, where God poured out His wrath against evil on a substitute sacrifice, His Son, that we might receive the power and grace to hate that very evil in us.
