Lament for Peace - A Poem.

Haven't done poetry in awhile. This one just wanted to be seen. Do with it what you will. Yes, I wrote it.

-----

Peace is a river
which we all fear and dream
of longing for sweet hope
And while lying in bed

The stars gaze down
Upholding our heads
Look upon the Father,
Brilliant Lord of Lights
Behold his countenance

And accept his warm embrace.
For sorrow is fleeting,
So hear well my lament--
Joy is tiresome

But well am I in discontent.
The luxury of dissonance
Beats blood through the veins
And never more sturdy
Has life gone insane.

O excellent Father
Master of mine come
Take me and guide me-
Bind my soul to thee

O God slay me,
But never release me--
Let blood trickle down
From the everlasting one--

Let the Highest Among High
And King of High Priests
Intercede on my behalf
because my spirit is weak.

O Spirit groan for me,
Say words that shall to heaven fly
For my spirit is crushed,
my heart lies in ruin--

Where are you, my Father,
That I cannot go?
Shall terror beset me,
or horrors befall?

Master and Maker,
Firstborn from the dead--
God Almighty hold me--
Jesus, cry for me,

I've no tears of my own.
Come what may,
Mighty one slay----
The Ancient Foe is cruel--
But his death is my gain.

God of this City

I'll get off the video horse soon, I promise. Just another favorite. It speaks for itself. First time I heard this song I cried.

The voice of truth.

I haven't listened to much of Casting Crowns, but someone sang this or played it in church once, or both, and yesterday it wouldn't get out of my head, that chorus. It speaks for itself, but the events that have unfolded have resonated with me, and yesterday this was my theme song.
